Dr. Mengistu hailemariam Zenebe

He is an Assistant professor, medical microbiology, School of medical laboratory sciences, College of Medicine and health sciences, Hawassa University, Hawassa, Ethiopia. He has  more than 20 years of expertise especially focused on global and tropical health issues including bacterial drug resistance, TB, malaria, congenital CMV, maternal health, CMV, and STI. He  completed MSc in medical Microbiology at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia in 2011 and PhD at the department of diagnostic sciences, Ghent University, Belgium in 2021. His investigated maternal health and congenital CMV infections of newborn, the most common intrauterine infection and non-genetic sensorineural hearing loss in children. He worked earlier as an assistant lecturer and later as a lecturer and assistant professor since 2016 at Hawassa University. As university instructor, he teaches bacteriology, virology, clinical chemistry, and urinalysis for medical and health sciences students. During his PhD candidature and thereafter, he worked as a research assistant at Ghent University, Belgium. In extension to PhD work, he has a strong link with Ghent University to execute further studies on congenital infections.
